There will be a Parent and Candidate Information Meeting on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm upstairs in the Church.

Parents must provide a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate. Please bring a copy to the Parent/Candidate Meeting on March 8^th or submit by email no later than March28, 2024. Send a scanned copy of the Baptismal Certificate to: confirmation.stdominic@gmail.com

The fee for the preparation program $65 to cover resources. The Parish has a Paypal account which is listed on the registration form. You may also bring cash or a cheque (made out to St. Dominic Church) to the Parish office. Please label the envelope with “Confirmation Registration and your child’s name”. There will also be a POS machine available at the parish office on weekdays.

Confirmation:

A parent and candidate meeting will be held upstairs in the church on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 7:00 pm.
Registration closes on March 27, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.
We will be using the resource Gifted by God. This program will be offered on Zoom, with candidates and parents attending sessions together.
There are 6 sessions of approximately 30 minutes each, which are required to be completed for the preparation program. Sessions will be facilitated each week on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm from April 3 to May 1, 2024. The Zoom link, with a meeting reminder, will be send out in advance of each meeting.
The last session will be held upstairs in the Church on Wednesday, May 8 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Confirmation Mass will be explained, and Candidates will practice coming forward for Confirmation.
Your child’s Confirmation Sponsormust be a fully Confirmed Catholic, over age 16. Parents cannot be a sponsor to their own child(ren). The sponsor forms will be distributed at the Information Meeting and provided by email as an attachment.
Completed Sponsor forms must be submitted before the first class on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Completed forms can be dropped off at the parish or scanned and emailed to Beverly O’Grady, Pastoral Associate: stdominic@gmail.com
The celebration of Confirmation will take place at the regularly scheduled 7:00 pm Masses on Tuesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The Parish Team wishes to thank the school principals and teachers for their assistance in sharing this information with the families who have children in Grade Seven and Eight for Confirmation (age 12 or older). We are aware that some children in Grade Eight may have missed the opportunity to prepare for Confirmation and this program is meant to include them as well.

It is important for parents and children to attend Mass on the weekends. Our Mass times are 5 pm Saturday evening and Sunday mornings at 9:30 am and 11:30 am. Regular Mass attendance will provide your child with a richer understanding of why they are completing their initiation into the Catholic faith.
